Syria: UN Envoy Brahimi, Nations Supporting Dialogue and Enemies Funding Terrorism

The crisis in Syria rages on because outside nations keep on propping up terrorism, sectarianism and sedition. This reality can be seen by the plethora of international jihadists, mercenaries and operatives entering Syria. Therefore, major covert routes linked to America, France, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Kingdom are enabling military hardware, intelligence knowledge and terrorists to freely enter Syria via a wide web of rat-lines.

However, nations which seek a solution are trying earnestly to find a way out of the crisis by supporting national dialogue within Syria outside of the network of terrorism and sectarianism. It is abundantly clear that the Russian Federation and other independent nations like Brazil, China, Cuba, India, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, South Africa, Venezuela, and many others, are intent on a peaceful solution and viewing the situation in its entirety and without mass propaganda. All the above nations may vary in their stance towards Syria but all oppose military intervention and the terrorist, mercenary, sectarian and sedition policies of the enemies of independent Syria. Yet, the combined forces of America, France, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and other nations in the Gulf, are intent on spreading sectarianism and terrorism throughout Syria in order to reach their respective objectives.

The Pakistan Foreign Minister, Hina Rabbani Khar, stated that “Syria needs political space to find a peaceful solution and reestablish its societal equilibrium by engaging all sides. Syria must forge its own destiny in accordance with the aspirations of its people.”

Of course, Pakistan knows full well that the “Islamist clock is very dangerous” because parts of this nation is in the hands of many Islamist factions. The result of this is that sectarianism, a threat to the nation state and hatred towards non-Muslims are growing problems within the body politic Pakistan. At the same time, drone attacks by America are killing innocent civilians which are being caught up in the self-induced terrorist crisis. After all, it was America, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom which supported the same Islamists throughout the 1980s and 1990s, whom they are now fighting today in this part of the world.

Turkey should note that Pakistan played the same role against Afghanistan in the 1980s and 1990s but look what happened. It isn’t inconceivable that Islamists will turn against the Alevi minority and the Kurdish community in the future in Turkey if developments continue to deteriorate. Islamists will use any vacuum that opens to them. Therefore, while in the short-term they may do the dirty work of outside nations, it is clear by the crisis in Afghanistan and Pakistan that dangerous foes often turn against their masters.

Walid Muallem representing the Syrian government stated that “Permanent members of the (UN) Security Council who have launched wars under the excuse of combating terrorism (are) now supporting terrorism in my country without any regard to United Nations resolutions.”

Ann Barnard, New York Times, comments that “Syria’s rebel fighters – who have long staked claim to the moral high ground for battling dictatorship – are losing crucial support from a public increasingly disgusted by the actions of some rebels, including poorly planned missions, senseless destruction, criminal behavior and the coldblooded killing of prisoners.”

It must be stated that the New York Times is no friend of Syria just like nearly all the major media outlets in the West and Gulf region. Indeed, the media campaign is shockingly distorting reality on the ground. However, countless videos of massacres by the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and a plethora of Islamist terrorist factions are reaching the outside world. Despite this, the media is mainly compliant and involved in the media war. At the same time senior politicians from nations supporting the destabilization of Syria ignore these mass crimes against humanity. After all, how many times have you heard the leaders of America, France, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Kingdom condemning car bombings and the beheading of individuals in Syria?

South Africa made it clear that they oppose military intervention and outside meddling into the internal affairs of Syria. Marius Fransman, International Relations and Cooperation Deputy Minister of South Africa, stated on behalf of the government that “We continue to call for the resolution of the conflict through diplomatic and peaceful means. We reiterate our view that there can be no military solution to the crisis in Syria.”

Meanwhile China is mainly in agreement with the Russian Federation because political leaders in Beijing are opposed to foreign intervention and the destabilization of Syria.  However, China isn’t so robust unlike the Russian Federation which openly gets involved in major international events when it is appropriate. The Foreign Minister of China, Yang Jiechi, stated that “The international community should fully cooperate with and support envoy Brahimi’s mediation efforts with a more intense sense of urgency and responsibility…Relevant parties should as soon as possible appoint authoritative representatives to come up with a roadmap for a political transition with the help of envoy Brahimi and the international community.”

Lakhdar Brahimi, UN envoy to Syria, comments that “No one supports actions of the extremist groups in Syria…violence and the flow of arms into the Syrian territories must be stopped.” It is clear that this comment is aimed at the enemies of Syria and nations like Turkey – and the clandestine actions going on in Lebanon and Jordan – which are enabling terrorists to freely enter Syria. The arms angle by Brahimi is likewise aimed at Western and Gulf nations which are supporting terrorism, sectarianism and sedition against Syria.

Brahimi continued by stating that “The situation in Syria poses a great danger not only on the Syrian people, but also on the neighboring countries and the world….There are organizations and some foreigners involved, in one way or another, in the clashes on the Syrian territories….The crisis in Syria can be resolved through rapprochement of views between the Syrians and if they were unable to do so, the international community and people should help them for good and not for evil.”

It once more appears that Brahimi is hinting that this evil is coming from nations which are supporting the destabilization of Syria. However, it remains to be seen if nations meddling in the internal affairs of Syria will take note. After all, from the very start it is clear that outside forces have been supporting extremely dark forces in Syria.

This fact means that nations which are against supporting military intervention must do much more to help Syria. Likewise, these collective nations should put more pressure on nations which are openly supporting terrorism and sectarianism against the people of Syria. It isn’t good enough that outside nations are supporting dark forces and the military angle, while friends of Syria just talk about political dialogue because clearly this approach isn’t working. Therefore, powerful independent nations should support Syria in all areas, in order for this nation to defend itself and so that the impasse will finally break. If not, then the nations of America, France, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Kingdom will continue to support terrorism and daily carnage against the people of Syria. Given this reality, the friends of Syria need to meet this challenge head on because the enemies of Syria are waiting for the tipping point, irrespective if this leads to mass religious cleansing.
