The one constant theme in Egypt, Kosovo, Libya, Syria, Ukraine, and probably now in Yemen, is that certain massacres and events appear to have a hidden hand involved. This includes utilizing various terrorist forces, enabling special operatives to plot, media manipulation, new forces emerging quickly – and the planning of major destabilization operations and so forth. Therefore, the announcement by ISIS (IS – Islamic State) that it was behind the shedding of so much blood in two mosques also appears out of touch with events on the ground. After all, in Yemen al-Qaeda is known to have powerful forces in this nation therefore it currently remains murky about who was truly behind the barbaric terrorist attacks on two mosques.

In Yemen momentous events are happening because the Shia Houthi movement is consolidating its power base. Despite this, Yemen is extremely diverse therefore religious fault-lines, politics, regional realities, and outside intrigues blight this nation. However, one reality is certain and this applies to Gulf feudal monarchs being very unhappy about the rise of the Shia Houthi movement. On top of this, military personnel opposed to this movement internally and political elites forced out of power are also opposed to the rise of the Shia in this nation. Therefore, with the Houthis wanting to stabilize the situation, it would appear that the barbaric attacks on two mosques is designed to spread sectarianism and to destabilize the nation.

The Daily Telegraph reports about the brutal attack against two mosques. This media group states: “Nearly 150 people were killed and 350 wounded in a triple suicide bombing in Yemen on Friday, with a previously unknown faction of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) claiming responsibility for the attack.”

This previously unknown anti-Shia Takfiri Islamist group in Yemen stated: “Infidel Houthis should know that the soldiers of the Islamic State will not rest until they eradicate them… and cut off the arm of the Safavid (Iranian) plan in Yemen.”

However, the above comment sounds more like an external force that represents the intrigues of outside nations. Surely, with ISIS being overstretched in Iraq and Syria then now is the wrong time to plot more chaos throughout the region. Also, how come ISIS keeps on missing Israel, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey? After all, if ISIS is against the status quo and the meddling of Western powers and corrupt monarchies, then how is it that ISIS appears to be working on the behest of external forces that seek the overthrow of the Syrian government and to stem the Shia tide?

Iran Press TV reports: “Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said on Friday that at a time that Yemen needs stability and peace “more than ever,” its enemies intend to achieve their vicious objectives by creating insecurity and instability through such terrorist acts.”

Given this reality, then what hands were behind the twin attacks against the Shia Houthis? Was it really ISIS? Was it a fusion of other forces? Were hidden internal security operatives involved? Was it covert operatives working on the behest of feudal monarchies? Was it al-Qaeda?

If suddenly ISIS can emerge and plot attacks like this, then what does this say about al-Qaeda in Yemen? Also, unlike al-Nusrah in Syria, it is clear that ISIS had grand designs in Iraq and Syria that emanated on the intrigues of external players that have assisted this Islamist sectarian terrorist group. This notably applies to NATO Turkey whereby even courts in this nation have mentioned the link between MIT and ISIS. Indeed, images and videos show the armed forces of Turkey moving freely in ISIS areas along the border between Turkey and Syria. Likewise, leading ISIS figures have openly set foot in Turkey and many ISIS fighters have been treated in Turkish hospitals. At the same time, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia have provided ample funds for various Takfiri Islamist forces aimed at toppling the secular government of President Bashar al-Assad.

Abdul Malik al-Houthi stated: “We move in studied steps. We do not want the country to collapse.”

However, many internal and external forces seek to dismantle the power base of the Houthi movement. This reality leads to speculation that ISIS may not have been behind the barbaric attack against two mosques in Yemen. Or, if ISIS was behind this, then did this really happen without the assistance of “a third force?”

In a recent article by Modern Tokyo Times it was stated: The fear within the Houthi Shia movement – and within other areas of power in Yemen – is that nations like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait, might start to meddle into the internal affairs of this nation. If this happens, then clearly Yemen will face mass bloodshed and disintegration. However, with so many political and sectarian problems throughout the region, then is it in the interest of powerful Gulf nation states to open up a new can of worms?”

It appears that the barbaric bombing of two mosques is a clear indicator that outside forces seek destabilization on the grounds of curtailing the Houthi Shia movement. Therefore, it remains to be seen who was really behind these mass atrocities because ISIS wasn’t on the terrorist and sectarian map in Yemen prior to this.

Mohammed al-Ansi, an eyewitness to one of the attacks, said: “The heads, legs and arms of the dead people were scattered on the floor of the mosque… Blood is running like a river.”

The brutal attack is planned on spreading more chaos and hatred in Yemen. Therefore, it is essential that the Houthi Shia movement doesn’t fall into this internal or external trap.
