Adachi hostess cluster in Tokyo related to at least 100 Covid-19 cases

The coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis continues in Tokyo despite recent infections, on the whole, coming down. Yet, with 211 new confirmed cases on Thursday, concerns remain that the situation isn’t out of the woods yet.
Unsurprisingly, Tokyo is the worst-hit area in Japan based on the size of the population. Equally, people freely travel daily between the three neighboring prefectures of Chiba, Kanagawa, and Saitama that link naturally with Tokyo.
Hence, the sex entertainment angle of many infections is a bone of contention. After all, this angle is known to have enabled the coronavirus to spread once more after a sharp decline in daily infections throughout most of May. Therefore, anger persists about the Ikebukuro and Kabukicho sex entertainment and nightlife angle being responsible for a major route of the coronavirus.
It is known that at least 100 people have caught coronavirus also in another hostess related cluster in the Adachi Ward. This area is known for many Philippino women working in hostess bars – some registered and others not. Thus the figure is most likely much higher than 100.
Also, many individuals visiting hostess bars – and other angles related to sex entertainment districts – don’t come forward and say where they caught the virus. Equally, individuals move to wider society so the link in the chain isn’t easy to determine. For example, people will come in contact while shopping, on the train, and so forth.
Of special attention is the Takenotsuka 1-chome area of Adachi that is known for the recent cluster. Similarly, like Ikebukuro and Kabukicho, it isn’t the first time that clusters have emerged in these areas. On the contrary, it is an ongoing concern despite increased measures based on awareness.
Females in several hostesses establishments are allegedly still kissing and so forth with guests. Hence, while some establishments have tightened up procedures, others are more lax – or not even regulated properly. Therefore, greater enforcement powers are needed on establishments that don’t cooperate fully with local authorities.
Similarly, the police need to crack down on unlicensed establishments where risks are even greater. Thus, the real number of infections are most definitely higher.
