Brazil reached a new daily death high from coronavirus (Covid-19) in the last 24 hours. This sums up the ongoing crisis in this nation because 270,000 deaths have now been recorded. Therefore, with endless high infection rates, more potent coronavirus variations, and the endless flow of daily deaths, the health care system is under enormous strain.
Carissa Etienne, Director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), uttered, “We are concerned about the situation in Brazil. It provides a sober reminder of the threat of resurgence: areas hit hard by the virus in the past are still vulnerable to infection today.”
The PAHO is also alarmed by a new coronavirus variant that is more contagious called P1. Hence, with over 2,250 deaths in the last 24 hours, this sums up the perilous situation in this country.
The BBC reports, “On Wednesday, the country recorded 79,876 new cases. A surge in cases in recent days has been attributed to the spread of a highly contagious variant of the virus – named P1 – which is thought to have originated in the Amazon city of Manaus.”
Since the coronavirus crisis pandemic emerged it became abundantly clear that America and Brazil were far from unified in the fight against this virus. Thus major political differences occurred in both nations that prevented a unified stance. Therefore, it isn’t surprising that America and Brazil have the highest coronavirus death tolls.
Of course, Brazil had lesser economic options to implement because vast numbers reside in abject poverty. However, the chaotic approach isn’t helping either nation – and this also applies to the stances being taken by various sections of society.
The deaths will continue to flow in Brazil in the immediate future because the vaccination program is also slow, just like in the majority of nations.
