The coronavirus (Covid-19) convulsions are hitting countless nations in the realm of deaths, health care issues, limited to non-existent vaccination programs, poverty, unemployment, and other ills. Not surprisingly, these coronavirus convulsions are especially being felt in poorer nations that have limited infrastructures. Therefore, the nation of Paraguay is facing mass protests and political discontent with the ruling party over its handling of the coronavirus crisis.

President Mario Abdo Benítez of Paraguay fired three ministers concerning the protests. This follows on from the resignation of the health minister.

Deaths from coronavirus have reached over 3,300 in this nation of just over 7 million people. Thus the constant flow of deaths and daily infections from August onwards is putting enormous strains on society. Therefore, the health care system is under enormous pressure and economic convulsions are being felt by many.

The BBC reports, “Late on Friday, health workers and relatives of Covid-19 patients were among thousands of people who took to the streets of the capital, Asunción, and other cities to protest. They accuse the government of stealing millions of dollars that could have been used to deal with the health emergency.”

Into the mix is potent political splits between the left and right in countless nations throughout this continent. Thus the political right rebukes the political left in Venezuela and the same is happening in reverse in Paraguay. Therefore, protests and political instability can soon build up when vacuums emerge.

Hence, the nation of Paraguay is now facing political convulsions related to coronavirus based on the handling of this crisis.
